The Muslim Teachers College was established in 1988 in Richmond, Virginia. The primary goal of this college is to prepare individuals to teach in Islamic Elementary and Secondary schools in North America (Insha Allah). To this end we have scheduled periodic workshops addressing modern pedagogical techniques from an Islamic perspective.
The first of these workshops was held in Richmond, Virginia at Masjid Bilal in March of 1989. The second was co-sponsored by Muslim Teacher's College (MTC), and Virginia Commonwealth University, and held at the latter in October of the same year. The third workshop was a cooperative effort between MTC and the Sister Clara Muhammad School of Louisville, Kentucky. It was conducted at the University of Louisville.
The papers contained within this volume constitute the first journal of the Muslim's Teacher's College.
Insha'Allah, it is our intention to publish a journal once each year focusing on subject matter pertinent to Islamic Education.
May Allah, the Most High, forgive us our short-comings, and bless us in our sincere efforts to work in His cause.
